If you are shopping on Ebay or online then you will see lots of merchants that only accept payments from buyers with Paypal accounts. Up until very recently, in order to pay via Paypal, it was necessary for the buyer to create a Paypal account. This is no longer the case.
Both merchants and buyers are now happy that Paypal has changed its purchasing restrictions and allows buyers to buy using Paypal without a buyer Paypal account. Merchants were losing many sales to people who would want to buy their product either on Ebay or the merchant’s online shop but did not have a Paypal account. And many buyers who shop using a credit card did not want the added ordeal of signing up for services and creating Paypal accounts that they didn’t feel comfortable with. Now for buyers they can shop with only their credit cards at online checkouts that accept Paypal. The service works as follows:
No longer does the buyer need a Paypal account, the buyer can click on a buy it now either on Ebay or on a merchants private site and be transferred to the sellers Paypal account for easy checkout. Once the buyer is at the check out point they are prompted to complete the following information; first they are asked for their Full name, and postal address. Once completed, they are prompted for credit card information, a valid email address and phone number. The phone number is optional. After reviewing their information they are asked whether or not they would like to subscribe to Paypal and open a Paypal Account. They can either choose to open a Paypal account or decline a Paypal account. From this point the buyer continues check out as usual. It is important to note that Paypal anti-fraud measures are applied so there is little chance of fraud.
So merchants rejoice, your shoppers no long have to open a Paypal account
to purchase your products or services.
